Robbery

Many conversations and negotiations were based on robbery which could draw our attention on the causes of such a widespread problem. The essay examines if the recommendation toward altering laws for the offense of armed robbery is valid. It explains that this recommendation is viewed as a means of providing a stronger deterrence to the crime of armed robbery; as well as providing the possibility of sending a message to offenders that this type of crime will not be tolerated throughout society. Furthermore, the essay will discuss the causes and reasons for robbery, next it will explain some examples based on robbery, and finally possible solutions will be provided in order to minimize the occurrence of robbery.

Robbery has different terms from one country to another depending on its causes and reasons. Robbery is defined as the taking or attempting to take anything of value from the care, custody, or control of a person or persons by force or threat of force or violence and by putting the victim in fear. (Diana Gordon Macyoung 2010). One actual cause is the specific childhood experiences linked to violent crime behavior, and early childhood and adolescent stealing, and aggression, are directly linked to violent crimes in adulthood, including robberies. If very young children are brought to stealing situations at the age of 8, by age 12 many of these troubled children have already been arrested on theft and assault charges. Another major cause of robbery is the loss of employment and corruption in society which creates the ideas of robbing in people’s minds.

There are innumerable situations and methods of robbing which directly affect the population of the country through the damage and injury inflicted by them, both on a physical and financial level. The existence of this occurrence creates fear amongst the citizens and many thieves are caught and have been given serious punishments but the minorities have successfully accomplished their missions such as the Great Train Robbery. The Great Train Robbery counts as one of history’s biggest robberies which amazed humanity. 15 skilled robbers stopped the train by turning off a green track signal and, with batteries, turning on a red signal. The train’s fireman went to investigate and was captured, unharmed; the engineer was severely injured by a blow on the head. The robbers took about 120 mail bags by cars to their farm hideaway, where they divided the loot. Unfortunately, 12 were caught and the rest made their way out. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Train_Robbery_(1963))

There is no doubt that the phenomenon of stealing will still occur, but the objective is to reduce or prevent the ability to cause a robbing situation. With so many robberies taking place nowadays, every employee who happens to work in an environment where cash and other valuable items are readily available is most certainly at risk; people could reduce the risk of robbery by placing more than one employee on a certain duty at any given time(Crime and Victims 2010). Schools must draw serious attention to their students by viewing some robbing situations and how such situations face serious punishments. Unemployment plays a major role in the robbing situations where people are usually in a serious need of money to save their habits; those people are categorized as hustlers, drug addicts, habitual robbers etc(Rhianna King,2010). In order to attract people to jobs, governments should offer incentives for young people to eliminate unemployment and the thoughts of stealing. In addition companies should show that they are competing for offering the desired income for most people searching for jobs.

Final Draft

Autopilot

The theory of air transportation in earlier times was strange for most people worldwide. Advanced studies were based on this theory to enhance and facilitate this type of technology. Today we are in the 21st century and the automatic pilot has been introduced and added to the air transportation category. Autopilot or in other words the automatic operation of an aircraft simplified the operation unit of an aircraft and, due to that; it increased the desire of people to be pilots. The essay will initially describe the history of the Autopilot; next it will discuss the technology techniques that were based on it, and finally a brief conclusion will be provided.

The automatic pilot counts as one of the 20th century's leading inventions. This type of system was first tested and developed in 1912 and two years later it was demonstrated to prove for people the great success of traveling through the air with hands-off the control panel. The first autopilot system was performed by connecting a Gyroscopic Heading indicator with an altitude indicator to maintain the altitude level of the aircraft (http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/44881/automatic-pilot),

Nowadays, in the modern autopilots, computer software is used to control the aircraft. This type of software is more developed software that divides up the total tasks of the journey into several modes: takeoff, ascent, level, descent, approach and landing phases(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autopilot). The takeoff mode helps to keep the aircraft in the centre of the runway, as the takeoff mission is accomplished; the ascent mode stabilizes the gradual rise and optimizes the fuel consumption by controlling throttles. When the aircraft reaches the constant altitude level, the software operates the aircraft by reading its current position from an inertial guidance system. The Inertial Guidance System is an electronic system that monitors the position, acceleration and velocity of a vehicle to provide the pilot with navigational data or control without the assistance of a base station. There is no doubt that such a type of system accumulates systematic errors, longer flights accumulates more errors and to be significant, automatic check for errors is done every single minute which requires the pilot to handle it in order to prevent risky situations(http://www.ariel.com.au/jokes/Inertial_Guidance_Systems_Explained.html)

In fact, the autopilot system performs some of the total tasks such as elevation stabilization level to find out the current position with the altitude as well as controlling the traveling speed in order to reduce the fuel consumption. Although this performance appears to be credible, there are dangerous systematic errors that require the pilot to be continuously under attention in order to fly safely. On the other hand, it assists the pilot in the landing task that is the most complicated and risky task in the journey by stabilizing the landing altitude smoothly.

The information above has drawn serious attention to the autopilot system. We conclude that this system was installed and programmed in aircraft a century ago. I definitely agree that further advanced studies were taken to develop the system's ability to perform as well as desired. Although the systematic errors are reducing eventually, that is not enough to be fully dependent on the autopilot.

Introduction

Large experienced companies in the car industry are producing two super cars. The massive, most expensive 16 cylinder Veyron is produced by the Bugatti Company and the powerful 911 Turbo is from the Porsche Company. Due to the people’s opinions and arguments and because both cars are desirable, I would like to express my ideas on both cars in this essay. The essay will initially provide main specifications for both cars; next it will discuss the similarities between them; then the differences will be discussed and finally my conclusion with my personal opinion will be provided.

Similarities

Despite the price difference between both cars, they both have compatible similarities. Both cars are on top of the line in the super cars group and both of them are AWD drive. Both cars have back-based engines. Both cars aspirations are Turbo. Both cars are 2-door cars including a gorgeous interior. In addition to the complicated engineering dynamics both cars have a strong stability and road holding providing you with a smooth ride at high speeds.

Differences

From the specifications above, we can note that the Bugatti Veyron value is more than 10 times the value of the 911 turbo. The Veyron engine size is 8 liters with 4 turbochargers and that is more than two times the engine size of its rival with a single turbocharger. On the performance side, the Porsche engine produces 500 hp@6000 rpm while the Veyron produces 1001 hp@6000 rpm which is double the power produced by the 911. Both cars' acceleration is stunning; the “Veyron performs 0-62 in just 2.8 seconds and achieves a top speed of 253 mph”( www.veyronbugatti.com) while the “Porsche performs it in 3.6 seconds and reaches a limit of 194 mph”.

Conclusion

If I were given the priority to choose one of these super cars I would rather choose the Porsche for some reasons. In my point of view, I would prefer to have a fast and a daily use car instead of having a faster car with less usage ability. On the other hand comes the expenses; the Porsche consumes much less fuel than the Bugatti(www.leftlanenews.com/bugatti-veyron-16.4.html)due to the engine capacity difference, as well as the unexpected spare parts cost for both cars and the Bugatti is much more surely. And finally, our country’s atmosphere is not the appropriate area for using the Bugatti monster.

Reading Summary Assessment

Summary

A disturbing situation is facing China where one woman commits suicide every four minutes. As estimated 150,000 women commit suicide every year and the majority of them do so in rural areas due to the availability of poisons in their areas. Xu Rong, head of the suicide prevention project is looking after such situations. More than 70% of suicides are caused by arranged marriage where women are forced to marry. Divorce is an excluded solution for them because it affects the financial security of the family so they attempt suicide in order to escape from their hard circumstances and to reflect their distressing feelings for people. As a result, the number of women will decrease gradually in China and there will be not enough women to men ratio that will lead to abduction and prostitution. Xu Rong is determining the future of China’s women by arranging courses such as cooking, marriage laws and other personal life experiences to provide them with self-confidence.

Main Idea

The article is drawing the attention to suicide attempts by Chinese women. An approximate number of 150,000 Chinese women commit suicide every year mostly in rural areas due to bad marriage environment and lack of learning so they decide to commit suicide in order to gain some dignity and to reflect their sense of anger.

Opinion

In my point of view, women nowadays are holding important positions world wide and achieving goals which a minority of men could achieve. I am sorry to hear that the world is losing 150,000 women due to distressful life situations. If China solves this problem and provides jobs for those young women, the economy will be improved as well as life experience for those women.
